額から第2の尻尾が生えた珍しい子犬が、アメリカで保護される

アメリカでかなり珍しい特徴を持ったワンコが保護され、多くのメディアが報じている。

健康には問題なく、元気に暮らす

そのワンコとは生後10週目の子犬で、ミズーリ州の通りをさまよっている所を保護されたという。

現在、ケアをしている保護団体の「Mac’s Mission」は、その後ワンコに「Narwhal」と名づけたそうだ。

「Narwhal」の珍しい所は、なんと額から第2の尻尾が出ているところ。しかし健康には問題なく、いたって元気暮らしているという。

額の尻尾に骨はないことを確認

そして「Narwhal」は11月12日に動物病院へ連れて行かれ、X線の検査を受けたそうだ。

その結果、額にある第2の尻尾には骨がないことが判明。このため「Narwhal」の意志でその尻尾を振ることはできないとか。

「Mac’s Mission」は特別なケアを必要とする多くの犬を預かっており、これまでにも5本足のワンコや足が3本しかないダックスフント、目や耳が不自由な犬の世話をしてきたという。

そんな「Mac’s Mission」でさえ、「Narwhal」のように第2の尻尾が額から生えたワンコは見たことがないそうだ。

「Mac’s Mission」のRochelle Steffenさんは、現在「Narwhal」が体の中にいる双子を吸収しようとしていると見ており、尻尾が体の内側で成長したり、目に入ったりしない限りは、そのまま残しておくつもりだと語っている。

またそのような問題が生じないと確認できるまでは、「Narwhal」を養子に出すことはしないつもりだという。（了）
