立派に成長した野生のニンゲンが、大木の上でリラックスした様子でカメラを見ている。下のボブキャットの姿が本来撮りたかったものだ。

山にしかけたカメラがとらえた写真

写真家のJeff Wirthさんは、動きを感知してシャッターを切る仕組みを施したカメラを山中に設置し、野生動物の姿をとらえている写真家だ。

カメラのデータを1ヵ月に1度確認しているという。今までカメラがニンゲンの姿を捕らえたことはなかったためとても驚き、山の中で大爆笑してしまったそうだ。

そのニンゲンは、他にも様々なポーズを見せてくれていた。

カメラに気が付いたのに触ることなく、ただ被写体になることを選んだ彼にWirthさんは感謝の言葉を口にしている。

この投稿は8月4日に投稿されると、6700件以上のリツイートと、32800件以上のいいねを集めた。

山の自然を守る男性だった

Wirthさんの投稿が拡散されると、彼のもとに一人の男性からダイレクトメッセージが送られてきた。

それがBen Sizemoreさん。この被写体の男性だ。もちろん彼は野生のニンゲンではなく、この山の外来植物を管理する仕事をしている男性だった。（下の投稿はSizemoreさんの勤務先で撮影したもの。2枚目に本人の姿）

This large male black bear checks out my camera, then checks out this tree. But why the tree? What’s happening with the tree? Does the bear have an itch? Is the bear trying to rub off his winter coat? . Not quite. This is a bear rub tree. Think of the tree as social media for bears. Everything you see right here is purely communication. Pulling the branches down and rubbing his face all over them, rubbing his large body all over the trunk, and if you notice, even urinating. Bear rub trees are sometimes passed down generation to generation and are likely used to look for females ready to mate. This bear is saying, “hey what’s up, I was here, oh, you were too? Tiiiight.” Pretty cool, right? #blackbear #wildlifetracking #staywild
