サッカーワールドカップの試合会場で、ノルウェーのサポーターたちが、一斉に「バイキング」の船を漕ぐ動作をし、チームを応援した。

ノルウェーのチームは28年ぶりのワールドカップ出場を果たし、6月17日にはアメリカのボストンで、イラクとの初戦を迎えた。

スタジアムには多くのノルウェーチームのサポーターが集まり、皆赤い服を着て、「バイキング」の船を漕ぐパフォーマンス（Viking Row）をしたという。

また試合前にもスタジアムに向かうノルウェーのサポーターが、エスカレーターで「バイキング・ロウ」をする様子も目撃された。

結局、この試合では「4-1」でノルウェーが勝利し、ノルウェーのサポーターらは歓喜に包まれたそうだ。

またその後も、町の中で、ノルウェーのサポーターらが太鼓の音に合わせて、「バイキング・ロウ」をする様子が撮影された。

しかもなんと、ノルウェーの国会でも、議員らが「バイキング・ロウ」のパフォーマンスに参加したそうだ。

バイキングは主に8世紀から11世紀にかけて北欧（現在のノルウェー、スウェーデン、デンマーク）の沿岸地域で活動した武装集団、または交易民とされている。

彼らは海の民として船を操り、各地に進出し、北ヨーロッパの歴史に大きな影響を残した。

そして今回のワールドカップにおいて、「バイキング」が注目されたのは、ノルウェーの選手らが大会前の写真撮影で、「バイキング」に扮したことがきっかけだったという。（了）
