アメリカで黒人男性が警察官によって殺害された事件に抗議するため、大規模なデモが起き、混乱が広がっている。

 

警官に膝で首を押さえられ黒人男性が死亡

 

その事件が起きたのは5月25日（現地時間）、場所はミネソタ州の都市、ミネアポリスとされている。

 

当時、黒人男性のGeorge Floydさんは、白人の警察官により拘束され、膝で地面に首を押さえつけられた。

 

この時Floydさんは警察官に対して「息ができない。助けてください」と懇願しており、周りにいた人も警官らの行き過ぎた行動を非難したが、結局その後Floydさんは亡くなった。

 

その後、4人の警察官は免職されたが、当時の動画はネットにも投稿され、大規模な抗議デモが起きたという。

店を破壊し、商品を略奪

 

デモは当初、平和的に行われていたようだが、警察官はデモ隊を鎮圧するために、催涙弾を使用した。

これにより一部のデモ参加者などが暴徒化し、ミネアポリス警察近くにある「Target」と呼ばれる店を破壊。窓を叩き割り、人々が店の中に入り、物を略奪していったそうだ。

さらに人々の怒りは収まらず、他の店や銀行の窓なども叩き割られたという。

またこのような中で、自らの店を守っていたオーナーが銃を発砲。略奪しようとした1人が撃たれて、死亡したと言われている。

 

さらにその後、いくつかの建物も放火され、警官らが複数の警察署を捨て、避難する様子もツイッターなどに投稿された。

Floydさんの事件に抗議するデモは5月28日には全米に拡大し、テネシー州やケンタッキー州、コロラド州、アリゾナ州などの都市でも行われたという。（了）
