The women of #Belarus are holding the SOS sign. So heartbreaking. But also a powerful reminder that this is not about counting how many folks come out to the street. They’ve been protesting for 42 days, despite arrests, tortures and, well, fear. They’ve already shown they are defiant pic.twitter.com/mRA95M7Xgq

Another massive female rally is happening right now in #Minsk. I admire these courageous Belarusian women, who are playing such an important role in the protests, the opposition and a pro-democracy movement. They are chanting: “This is our city”. Cars are honking pic.twitter.com/vib17q6pD8

#Minsk Security forces (or whoever these mysterious men are) tried to arrest two bikers,a man and a woman, who were driving in solidarity with the rally. Other women began defending them. Detentions in other spots started as well pic.twitter.com/IDKlCPO6gW

#Belarus #Minsk Some of the world’s most courageous and peaceful women. They are singing a beautiful Belarusian song Kupalinka right in front of security forces members who brutally detained other rally participants a moment ago pic.twitter.com/FNSELQiQWF

Women are chanting: “Give us back our Masha [Maria Kalesnikava], and arrest Sasha [Aliaksandr Lukashenka]”
Maria Kalesnikava, one of the leading trio, was detained at the border when she refused to leave Belarus. Now, she is charged and faces a multi-year prison term. pic.twitter.com/ykx3D6Egnu

Popular Belarus uprising continues — in the form of concerts and artistic performances. In the video, thousands of people are chanting ”Long Live Belarus” at the the open-air concert of the Nizkiz band. By the way, I really recommend to listen to them — great music. pic.twitter.com/Fzd51QVL82

#Belarus. 73-year-old Nina #Bahinskaya has been detained just a moment ago at a peaceful female rally in #Minsk. She was dragged to a police van. Last Saturday, when she encountered the police, she already felt ill for a while. Again, she is 73 pic.twitter.com/AaI2UaBXp4

More than 390 people, primarily women, were detained today. Police were literally taking everyone who was on the street. Some women were injured, several lost consciousness. The regime is getting less and less human. And it’s very sad but predictable that Kremlin are backing it. pic.twitter.com/XVUZwEFKTF

Reportedly, more than 250 women detained at this moment. This is the most brutal detentions since the very beginning of Women’s Marches. Lukashenka feels invincible after he got money and political support from Putin. But he is wrong if he thinks that the protest will fade out. pic.twitter.com/LaSyfqNP70

It’s so cruel. Three riot police officers detain Sasha. Friends are looking for her now. I hope the police will not be beating her. pic.twitter.com/UjrcvN32aY

#Belarus Really interesting. According to folks close to crowdfunding initiatives that help those repressed, around 30% of the applications are from law enforcers and security forces members who refused to obey orders to brutally suppress the protests. Of course, many stay loyal pic.twitter.com/DHUyKWa9JS

But I am sure the system is not monolithic. There’s a lot of uncertainty and fear – they are hiding, wearing balaclavas. Since they are scared of being identified,it shows that they are not quite confident about the system (also may be scared of revenge, especially in small towns) pic.twitter.com/SLzqjEnHYn

Min.of foreign affairs Uladzimir #Makei promised to revoke accreditation for foreign media if sanctions are imposed. The problem is that at least 17 journalists have already been stripped of their accreditation. Dozens (incl.myself) were not given it at all. Many were deported pic.twitter.com/dtK02nMkVq

#Belarus A criminal case was opened against this woman, who attempted to rip off the mask of a plainclothesman (!). A person can easily end up in prison for doing this, and it’s criminal responsibility. People are risking a lot every day, not only when they are on the streets pic.twitter.com/vmIpcHd7rX

#Belarus Someone told they attend the protests to feel this euphoric freedom again and again. This video from inside the crowd shows it.According to @Reuters, more than 100,000 people took part in the rally in #Minsk.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya invited Belarusians and foreigners supporting Belarus to join the Global Day of Solidarity with Belarus on September 20. Actually, it’s not one day but the whole week (Sep 20-26)

#Belarus They keep singing, those invincible Belarusians. It’s your evening portion of L’Estaca in Belarusian from a metro station in #Minsk.
