ある写真家が、イギリスで撮影した花畑の写真があまりにも美しいとして、注目を集めている。

丘に広がるポピー畑の光景

その写真家とは、バーミンガムに住むVerity Milliganさん（36）。

彼女は夏至の後、夜明け前にウスターシャーの街、ビュードリー近くにある丘でこの写真を撮影したという。

その赤い花は全てポピー。2013年に一度土地が掘り起こされたが、今回再び一斉に開花し、このような見事な光景を生み出したそうだ。

ただし、このようなポピーの景色は数週間しか続かないとされている。

• In the Valley • ============================= The alarm clock screeched at 2:45am and I had that inevitable urge to hit snooze, convincing myself the conditions wouldn’t be right and I’d be better off staying in bed. I’m glad the other voice in my head got me up and out because the conditions were gorgeous. There was no hint of mist anywhere on the route, but at the location it had formed in the valley. A rare summer treat indeed. I’ve got a sequence of images that I’ll share, but this one was pre-sunrise. インスタグラムにも多くの反響

Milliganさんはこの写真を撮影するために、午前2時25分頃に起床。バーミンガムから車で1時間移動し、この丘に到着したという。

そして撮影場所を探して、日の出となる午前4時40分まで待機。当時は霧がかかっており、日が昇り始めた時には、太陽がそれらに反射して、辺りが美しい景色に包まれたそうだ。

• Poptastic • ============================= Gosh, who knew that one morning in a poppy field could lead to so much. Milliganさんはその後、この写真をインスタグラムに投稿。すると写真を見た多くの人から「素晴らしい」や「色がとても美しい」「多くのポピーの写真を見たけど、これがベストだね」といったコメントが寄せられた。

無論、イギリスでは毎年のようにポピーの美しい景色が見られるが、Milliganさんは今回このような写真が撮影できたことに満足しているという。（了）
