アイスランドで地面が赤く染まった、珍しい火口付近の映像が撮影された。

この動画を撮影したのは、ニュージーランド出身の女性冒険家、Bridget Thackwrayさん（25）と、そのパートナーであるTopher Richwhiteさん（33）だ。

彼らは「Expedition Earth」という企画で世界中を旅しながら、これまでも地球の不思議で美しい光景を多く撮影してきた。

そんな彼らは10月、アイスランドの火山へ向かったという。そこには赤く染まった火口付近や、緑に映える植物、火山の黒い土が対照的に映る、不思議な光景が広がっていた。（下のインスタグラムの2ページ目に動画がある）

While planning our route through Iceland, Topher and I saw an image online of a crater that was different to anything we had seen before. We spent hours looking at Iceland by satellite map, putting markers on all the craters we thought resembled a similar shape and colour. After two days of driving the highland 4×4 trails we finally located what we believed was the mysterious volcano. We sent the drone out and saw the fluorescent red and green colours emerge from the black, volcanic landscape. As we navigated our way up a trail to the rim of the crater, snow began to settle, which would hide its magnificent red and green colours for the winter we approach. Please note – This section of the crater is accessible by a weather service trail. 4×4’ing off designated trails is forbidden in Iceland due to sensitive environments.

2日間かけて車で高地を移動

2人のインスタグラムによれば、彼らは最初にネットでこの火山のクレーターを見た時、これまでにないものだと思い、その後数時間かけて衛星の地図で調べたという。

それから4輪駆動の車で2日かけて高地を移動。火口に到着してからドローンを飛ばし、このような美しい景色を撮影できたそうだ。

この謎めいた山はアイスランドにあるヘクラ火山系の一部とされ、ヨーロッパでは「地獄への入口」というニックネームがつけられているとか。

ただ2人によれば、アイスランドの自然環境を守るためにも、指定されたコースを離れて車で走行することは禁止されているという。（了）
