南米のコロンビアで8月10日朝に発生したマグニチュード7.4の強い地震により、現在も救助活動が続けられている。

子猫が瓦礫の下で生き延びていた

この地震では数多くの建物が倒壊し、発災直後から、瓦礫の下に閉じ込められた生存者の捜索が続けられていた。

そして8月11日には、西部リサラルダ県のペレイラ市で、崩れた瓦礫の下から子猫が発見され、救助されたという。

子猫が救い出された時、群衆から歓声が上がったそうだ。その様子がこちら。

36時間も閉じ込められていた女性を救出

また同じくペレイラ市では、8月11日の夜、瓦礫の下に36時間も閉じ込められていた女性、ダニエラ・ラルゴ・サンチェスさん（32）が発見され、救助された。

消防隊員たちは、彼女が埋もれていた4枚の厚いコンクリート板の下にトンネルを掘り進め、ついに彼女の元へたどり着くことができたという。

救出される前、地元の住民は、瓦礫の下から助けを求める女性の叫び声を聞きつけたそうだ。

現場に到着した救助隊員たちは、小型カメラを使ってラルゴさんの位置を特定することに成功。しかし4枚の重いコンクリートが進路を塞いでいたため、救出活動は難航し、10時間に及んだという。

公式発表では、この地震による死者は少なくとも241人に上り、3700人が負傷、数百人が依然として行方不明になっている。（了）
