米国ジョージア州の保安官が、空き地に捨てられていた不審なビニール袋を調べたところ、中から赤ん坊が現れた。その瞬間の映像がFacebookで公開されている。

へその緒がついた赤ん坊

米国ジョージア州フォーサイス郡保安官事務所が公開したショッキングな動画は、現場を記録するために保安官が身につけていたボディカメラで撮影されたもの。

同州ウッドランド市の道路脇にある空き地で、不審なビニール袋が見つかり、保安官の一人が袋を破ったところ、中からへその緒がついたままの赤ん坊が現れた。

保安官たちは、「赤ん坊の泣き声が聞こえる」という近隣住人からの通報を受け、それまで付近一帯を捜索していた。

動画は、保安官が袋を破る前に手袋を着けるところから始まっている。袋の中から、赤ん坊の泣き声が漏れ聞こえているようだ。

袋を破り開けると、赤ん坊は驚いたのか、ひときわ大きな声で泣き始めた。「アイムソーリー（I’m sorry）」と繰り返す保安官の声が聞こえる。

We release this footage in hopes to receive credible information on the identity of Baby India and to show how important it is to find closure in this case. FCSO would also like to remind the public that the State of Georgia has a law called Safe Haven (HB 391). This law allows a child's mother to leave her baby, up to 30 days old, with an employee of any medical facility including any hospital, institutional infirmary, health center or birthing center in Georgia without prosecution. 袋から取り出された赤ん坊は、その後救急隊員の手でへその緒を切られ、毛布に包まれた。

赤ん坊は女の子で、「India（インディア）」という仮の名前が付けられ、今はジョージア州の児童養護施設に保護されている。
